That's a lot of flying! So they need energy along the way to keep them going. Here's a magic reindeer food recipe that will help you make a special treat for those hungry deer. Just mix it up and sprinkle it on the lawn Christmas Eve. Rudolph and his friends will appreciate it!

Magic Reindeer Food Recipe
- 1/4 cup dry oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- handful of green sugar sprinkles

Mix ingredients together well. Then store in a jar until Christmas. On Christmas Eve, sprinkle liberally on the lawn and then hop into bed! The magic food will help guide Santa's reindeer to your house and make sure they don't miss you.

If you're giving the reindeer food as a gift for someone else to sprinkle on their lawn, you can add one of these poems to the jar:

Magic Reindeer Food Poem #1
Sprinkle on the lawn at night.
The moon will make it sparkle bright.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This will guide them to your home!

All you need is some candy, a plastic bag, and a bit of imagination. Here's the recipe:

1 bag of Milk Duds, chocolate-covered raisins, malted milk balls or other candy

1 plastic Ziploc bag

1 "reindeer poop" poem

A good sense of humor

Take the candy from its wrapper and pour into the Ziploc bag. Seal the bag. Print and attach the reindeer poem (below). Give to someone with a good sense of humor.

Pretty easy, eh?

But here's the important part. Without the poem, all you've got is a bag full of chocolate candy. To turn it into reindeer poop, you'll need the magic poem below:

I woke up with such scare when I heard Santa call...
"Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!"
I ran to the lawn and in the snowy white drifts,
those nasty reindeer had left "little gifts."

I got an old shovel and started to scoop,
neat little piles of reindeer poop!
But to throw them away seemed such a waste,
so I saved them, thinking-you might like a taste!

As I finished my task, which took quite awhile,
Old Santa passed by and he sheepishly smiled.
And I heard him exclaim as he sped off in the sky...
"Well they're not potty trained, but at least they can fly!"

To open and download a printable Microsoft Word version of this poem, click the image at right. Then print it out, attach it to your bags, and your reindeer poop is all done!
